Great Falls Insurance Company provides workers’ compensation coverage in Maine and New Hampshire to well-run small and medium-sized businesses. We don’t just offer protection, we are redefining what an insurance carrier is: We are insurance advocates.
GFIC is unique in that we have a compassionate and dedicated staff who truly cares about our policyholders and the selected agents we work with. It’s evident in our unmatched response time to inquiries, commonsense approach, dynamic resources offered to policyholders, and how we infuse integrity into everything we do. We’re competitive in pricing, can help lower premium costs and reduce the possibility of on-the-job injuries, and we reward businesses for their efforts in improving workplace safety.
Workers’ comp is more than a monthly premium; with us, it’s security and support. It’s everything we do.
Our attention is focused and our decisions are quick. With an in-state claims operation, our decisions stay local, resulting in unprecedented speed for getting you the answers you need. We’re here to help get your injured employees back to work, and we offer Qualified Risk Control resources to help you operate your business efficiently while reducing injuries.
Imagine a workers’ comp carrier that rewards you for your efforts in workplace safety. At GFIC, we provide various credits for businesses too small to develop their own experience modification, based on individual experience and characteristics. We offer discounts to larger accounts based upon loss experience, evidenced commitment to safety, and employee care such as health and disability plans, employee assistance plans, and written drug and alcohol policies.
With us you are more than a monthly premium. Our underwriting team uses common sense when working with you and your agent, taking into account your unique needs to better understand your business. What works for one doesn’t work for all. We know and respect that.
We practice a premium reconciliation process to make sure you’re only paying for exposures you actually have. We also offer the ability to add and modify your policy to fit your needs, including affordably adding Employment Practices Liability Insurance (EPLI) to your policy.
We know a cookie-cutter payment plan won’t work for everyone. Experience a variety of payment options, including two unique payment plans—Smart Pay and Seasonal Pay—to match your premium payment to your particular cash flow.
Incredibly viable and growing every year, we are rated B++ (Secure) by Bests and protected by a comprehensive reinsurance program through our primary investor, Citadel Re (Rated A- by Best), and Lloyds to reduce our exposure to severe losses.
Launched in 2010, GFIC was created through a partnership between Robert Murch, owner of Combined Management in Lewiston, Maine; Scott Penwell, an attorney experienced in insurance company startups and acquisitions; and Tony Weller, Managing Director of Bermuda-based Citadel RE, GFIC’s major investor. The partnership wanted to offer a more personalized, workers’ comp-focused insurance alternative for small and medium-sized businesses who may have felt lost in the red tape sometimes experienced with large carriers.
A Maine domiciled company located in Auburn, Maine, where our offices overlook the Great Falls, we were the first new Maine-based insurance company to be licensed in 18 years. We have since expanded to include New Hampshire, receiving our license there in early 2016, and we continue to grow while always remaining accessible to our agents and policyholders.
